Milk bedding LFG, my latest natural deodorant, NAD+ face pods, sleep tea
I’m in a self-described transitional phase of my life. I can’t pinpoint exactly what’s happening, but I keep encountering coincidences, the kind of situations that appear and are impossible to ignore. Are they tests? Are they meant to function as mirrors? Will the universe provide clarity soon? Who knows! What I’m saying is, very specific, unusual things keep happening to me, some big and some small, but let’s start with an email I received from a stranger last week with the subject line “I hate how silk pillowcases look.”
Ok, I’m listening.
Anyone who knows me is well aware of my passion for both raw milk and luxury bedding. I’m typically a Matteo textiles household (they’ve redone their website and it’s terrible; you have to go to the store in LA to get anything done and somehow the in-person prices are always 50% off???). I’ve also tried every version of the silk pillowcases out there in an attempt to preserve my skin and hair, but they all look and feel cheap. Hideous even. Imagine my surprise when Corissa Steiner from Lunaweft magically appeared to tell me about her Milk Bedding. I sent it to several friends asking if they’ve ever heard of anything MORE ME.
Developed to be cotton bedding woven with skin-friendly, pH balanced milk protein (which is, interestingly, an old technique), Lunaweft just launched and is Corissa’s side gig. From the Dairy Queen herself:
My friend David imports luxury European fabrics and he told me a supplier asked if he was interested in a small run of milk fabric from Portugal. I’m from a dairy family in Wisconsin and I was intrigued by the use of milk byproduct - and then I went down the rabbit hole of the history of milk fabric during WWII. Which was catnip. Plus the skin and hair benefits…plus my personal vendetta against silk pillowcase aesthetics… I had to try.
The pillowcases I sent are 5% milk. I also have some 30% milk fabric I’m trying to decide what to do with. It’s a wild world…
I’m obsessed with these pillowcases? I don’t even know what to say. I could watch the milk fabric video on loop for the rest of my life and be happy. Bury me in 30% milk fabric, etc. They have the casual look of linen but with a smooth, soft texture. I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever but suspect Corissa is probably some kind of genius? The internet is incredible and we’re lucky to have it.
